On their end it is the number of "routes" you have to do to get to your destination.
As far as services, aside from the "triple" plays (optimum voice FTW), skype is the best computer VoIP solution, but recently magicJack has been good.

I have friends who use Vonage, but their connection always sounds worse than my AT&T Uverse. I'm hoping MagicJack will be as good or I'll have to switch back.

Generally the service comes from two places. First is your bandwidth. Having DSL with 1.5mbs down and 76kbs up, is great if that is all you are doing. The 768kbs up is the bottleneck on your end. On their end it is the number of "routes" you have to do to get to your destination.

I like my AT&T Uverse version, but it's $40 a month for unlimited. So I'm thinking about MagicJack because it's only $40 the first *year*. I have friends who use Vonage, but their connection always sounds worse than my AT&T Uverse. I'm hoping MagicJack will be as good or I'll have to switch back.
