Facebook is a godsend for college students. It really is the easiest way to get mass messages across to different groups, share photos from campus events, easily chat with friends, connect with old/new friends and family, etc., etc., etc. Isn't that what social networking is about? It's something to be obsessed over because there hasn't been anything like it before, AND IT WORKS! I mean, I can't even tell you how many times I found out about campus events through Facebook - you get alerted, you know who's going, who's not - I can't tell you how many times I found classmates whose names I didn't know in class on Facebook just by recognizing their face and having mutual friends! It's addicting because it works. It's addicting because it's safe. It's addicting because it's easy to use and it's not going away.

I enjoyed sharing and viewing pictures on Facebook until recently when an old friend posted some very unflattering pictures of me from the 80's. Of course, my kids and their friends had a good laugh over it, but I really wish I could go back in time and break that friend's camera.

When you use Social Networks (i.e. Facebook, MySpace, etc.), do you like it for the friends, games or sharing?
Or something completely different?
These types of networks have a way of sucking you in to their worlds... why do we keep coming back to them?

I like Mahalo Answers because of the questions and answers. I use Linkedin for business networking. I am interested in knowing what you think. I believe information and content attracts people. Also, I would admit that I like earning points on Mahalo Answers and obtaining a new belt.

Now that Facebook is popular with "old people", I enjoy reconnecting with old friends. It's also useful for keeping track of my grown children and their friends, although sometimes I learn more about them than I really wanted to know.
