What website can I use to create an online obituary?

I already know about Legacy.com and Tributes.com. Are there any other non-newspaper sites where I can create an online memorial for a lost loved one?

I'm especially interested in sites that allow posting of photos and videos, but that's not necessary.

It isn't designed for it in any way and I don't know if people would think it is inappropriate, but what about facebook?

I have seen both personal pages and groups dedicated to the memory of lost individuals. It is also an easy place for friends to post pictures, videos, and comments. Facebook has the added advantage of privacy controls so that you can control who can see what information.

This may not be what your looking for, but, maybe a free blog?

It would have an easy format to work with, for posting pictures and text, and wouldn't be very restrictive. Also it helps sometimes to have a place to put your words about a lost loved one, and maybe being able to make continuous blog posts would help. Also, it would be easy to show family and friends, especially those without subscriptions to anything, or little knowledge about computers.

Just an idea, but i think a blog dedicated to a loved one would be a great idea personally, and I think that I will reccommend it to others in the future as well. Thank you for the great prompt!

Some popular and very easy blog sites to use would be:

www.wordpress.com
www.blogger.com

Both are very simple and user friendly and would help you through everything you need to do.

I don't have a great site but here is something that will help you:

You can search on Search engines this way:

online obituary website not:newspaper

If you type this on Google for example, it will return any online obituary sites that are not related to newspaper.

You can try Legacy.com, or visit your local newspaper website.

For departed friends, I just created Blogger blogs for them, and had their friends e-mail content to me so I could edit them into a coherent narrative. Worked well, and it's free.
