A good place to start looking is the Techcruch 50 which took place in spetember. It showcased 50 new and upcoming web start ups.

I vaguely remember Jason Calacanis mentioning Tonchidot as one of the most innovative (with hilarious Japanese founders) but perhaps not the most well thought out.

Techcrunch in general is a great place to find new info on upcoming web startups.

For an ongoing RSS feed of the newest startups, try www.killerstartups.com . I read about things there sometimes months before I see them elsewhere!
