I have used both in the past. I would definitely suggest Ustream over Stickam. Stickam has a lot of down time, a lot of spamming by other members, a lot of kids getting on cam that like to fix their hair every two seconds. It is wayyy too slow and buggy when I go on occasionally. Chat doesn't move sometimes, wait forever for the Next Page to load, click to enter chat and you never really enter. Stickam's parent company is in the porn industry and I tend to think that most of their bandwidth ends up there.
The downfall to Ustream is not having other people on other cams with you. But a nice benefit is the control you have over chat since it is IRC based. If you are using a PC, Ustream has a Flash Media Encoder that can deliver crystal clear picture with the right camera. Good luck with your decision.

There is also www.justin.tv But I still recommend Ustream.

Ustream.com VS. Stickam.com for vodcasting: anybody have experience with either platform? Or, are there any other ones worthy of note?
i've been playing around with both ustream (ustream.com) and stickam (stickam.com) as potential platforms for vod/podcasting.
does anybody have some stellar experiences and/or horror stories with either one?
i follow a couple casts on each of them, and my impression is that the ustream shows seem to be the ... hmm ... "higher end" of the spectrum. that could be completely coincidence.
what are the pros/cons of going with either one?
thanks in advance,
/phil

I haven't messed with ustream, but stickam has always been horrible for me. It always drops my connection and disconnects me from my friends rooms. They seriously need to invest in more bandwidth before I'd consider using them as a platform for video podcasting.

that's kinda the impression i get. it's sort of the "hey, jr. high buddy! wanna chat online?" provider.
fine for casual chats, but not so much where something robust is needed ...

Indeed. Although, whenever I got to the home page I see leo laporte steaming with hundreds of people in his room just fine. They may be favoring bandwidth to him since he's an entertainer, but the casual user will almost always have bandwidth problems.

Ustream is better for vodcasting or doing shows. Most viewers that come to Ustream are there for that type of stuff. Stickam is more of a video chat room and mainly for chating. Ustream has category's your show can go under. I watch a lot of shows on Ustream and you do not have to be in the higher end spectrum to have a good show on Ustream. There is also www.justin.tv But I still recommend Ustream.

so it sounds like -
Ustream: better service, clear sound, a polished environment
Stickam: amateurish, but the ability to have guests on camera
have you used 'em, personally? i mean, is it a decently solid platform?
