I've use the WiFi on RC and it is decent speed. The dialup option for your room is unusable.
Personally I used my Blackberry as a tethered modem most of the time. Your carrier will charge you roaming usage, but most carriers have roaming buckets you can purchase to bring down the cost.
The reason I used my own connection rather than the WiFi is I not available everywhere on the ship - not in your room. I enjoyed sitting on my own personal balcony while on the web, not the uncomfortable chair they provide in the WiFi areas.

Since you mentioned GPRS, I assume that you either have T-Mobile or ATT. ATT is going to charge you international rates for data http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/international-roaming.jsp?WT.srch=1. Realize you may well be able to sign up and terminate within 30 days.
Here is T-Moble's data plan

Good luck. It looks like you will be doing GRPS at best. Have you considered getting a smart phone to check email and the like? You are going to have a real hard time surfing the net at that speed.

Is there Internet access on Royal Carribean cruises?
Hi, I will be on Royal Carribean cruise for 4 days and would like to know if there's any prepaid / post paid 3G/GPRS package I can signup to have internet coverage on board. Their wifi charges are US$55 per 150mins so am thinking of using 3G/GPRS mobile broadband instead since there's cellular coverage on board. I have a huawei 3G usb modem which I'm using with my existing mobile carrier.

• Thanks, I am going with my Nokia and local carrier bundled data roaming plan, which costs S$210 for 100mb which will do for emails. If I need heavier work will go to the wifi stations. Why did you say dialup is no go? It's at 56k? I'm not sure if you can reply, but if you cannot, pls google h1studio

Check out Verizon Mobile Broadband, it's extremely reliable and I've used it on a boat before. http://b2b.vzw.com/productsservices/wirelessinternet/
