The key to legitimate followers on twitter is posting regularly and having things to say that people want to hear. As you network people will naturally start to mention your tweets to others or re-tweet your comments. As your name spreads you will gain more followers.
Also, keep in mind that it is important to show that you are part of the community by following those that follow you.

If you really want followers, your posts need to be substantive and entertaining. Try posting links to interesting articles.
But remember, twitter was originally meant to be so friends could connect, and not to make new friends.
hope this helps :)

Honestly I don't see the point. And just posting your twitter name around the web probably won't help much. If you really want followers, your posts need to be substantive and entertaining. Try posting links to interesting articles.
But remember, twitter was originally meant to be so friends could connect, and not to make new friends.
hope this helps :)

Try making a twitter card containing your picture and your twitter name. Give it to everyone especially those people who spend a lot of time in the internet and you'll see, your followers will increase. My classmate did this and it's effective. Most of all, be cool, be nifty and stay attractive.
