Apart from Facebook and MySpace, where do 15-25 year old girls spend their time online?
I'm looking for a few websites I might not be too aware of, in order to help a friend out with his online marketing plan. He's creating a product aimed at the 15-25 female market and doesn't know where to begin. Asking me (since I'm a 27 year old female and apparently should know these things) was not a wise idea, so I need your help :)
What sort of online magazines or celeb websites are popular with this demographic, which online games are most popular etc...

He should look into advertising through AOL Instant Messenger. I haven't used it in a while, but know that I have younger cousins that use it, and when I was on it there were advertisements in the 'Buddy List' window.
Another website he might look into is tmz.com. Yes, yes, I know it's trashy, but the fact is, from about 15 on up, a high percentage of girls enjoy their celebrity gossip and TMZ has proven itself to be the leader in spewing out the gossip garbage.
IMDB would be a good one as well. It's a film and television directory that has information and message boards about basically every movie and show ever made. The message boards are especially heavily frequented and may be a good place to look for marketing.
And of course, what about twitter? This site has come out of nowhere to take over social networking. It's growing more and more by the day, and I envision it to explode even more in 2009. There's definitely some great potential there.

For my 17 year old daughter there is only three sites she visits on a regular basis: Facebook, YouTube and Wikipedia. Nothing else is even in the ball park of those three. Of those, only Facebook is marketable.
I would do the following:
1. Use google and alexa.com to locate teen and young adult targeted websites, you can find lists of such sites using "teen girl websites" etc.
2. Use webmaster tools such as Alexa and the SEO Tool bar to find the traffic to those sites and their relative popularity.

Other than the social networking sites, perhaps music sites (pandora, iTunes), video sites (hulu, youtube), or research for school projects on search engines (google, yahoo). Other than that, I don't think the average 15-25 year old girl spends much time online. (but that's just my opinion)
