In Fallout 3, once you finish the main quest can you go back and do the side quests?

I have no saved game before the very end :(
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I sure hope you're playing Fallout 3 on your PC, because if you are there is a mod that will let you continue playing once you have beaten it. Here it is:

Other than that, the consensus online is a big resounding *NO.* The game does not continue on after you have beaten it as in previous Fallout games.

However, the Broken Steel DLC due out in March will alter the game's "roadblock ending" and allow you to continue playing with your original character.

No, but the game should auto-save right when you enter the Jefferson Memorial at the very end. So if you've already finished the game, look for that save.

No, it is best to save right after Ravenrock, or at least before you contact Eldar Lyons. When you contact Lyons at the Citidel, Sara will ask if you are ready to go, if you say yes, you will proceed to the end of the game without much chance to exit and do other things. If you tell Sara you are not ready, you can exit, although this point is really just to give you a chance to grab your best weapons and armor. Hopefully you have a save during or right after the battle with the Enclave at Ravenrock.
