On Boobquake day, April 26, an earthquake hit Haiti. Does this prove the Iranians were right?
Jennifer McCreight wanted to know whether Iranian cleric Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi was right when he claimed that “immodest” dressed babes cause earthquakes. She organized "boobquake", trying to get
50,000 women to show a some clevage, which should definitely cause an earthquake, if the cleric was right.
Unexpectedly, Earth responded, and at 11am (local time), an earthquake of 6.9 magnitude hit Taiwan, as well as the Icelandic volcano "Eyjafjallajokull" is spitting out lava and ash again.

Does all this prove Iranian cleric Sedighi was right, and that women should dress more 'appropriately'?
Am I at risk for including this photo of boob-quake participant Lizzie Miller?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

In short, no. On any given day there are several earthquakes.
What we need to look at is if there were stastically more earthquakes on April 26 than normal. If not, the cleric is clearly wrong. If so, he might be right, but more testing would be a good idea.
Even if there were more quakes on boobquake day, its like saying that the Red Wings lost on Sunday because I wore a Phoenix Coyotes Jersey. There is a correlation (both things happened on same day same time) but not really a causation.
UPDATE: Jen, the brains behind boobquake, did the math and there were NOT any more quakes than normal yesterday.

"Does this prove the Iranians were right?"
No, it doesn't because the cleric Sedighi does not speak for ALL Iranians
The American televangelist Pat Robertson also said Haitians made a pact with the devil that caused the earthquake.
Similarly, this does not mean all Americans think Haiti was cursed because of the pact with the devil.
I wonder why no effort was put to exorcise the devils out of Haiti-wait, it's easier to make fun of somebody in a far away country.
Good point. Thanks for sharing.
