Olive oil comes from olives, peanut oil from peanuts, sunflower oil from sunflowers; but what is a canola?

Canola comes from rapeseed. Rapeseed is a plant. Technically, canola oil is rapeseed oil. It is called canola oil because some people are uncomfortable with the negative connotation of the word rapeseed.
