OK, MACs. I am a PC trying to become a MAC. How do I get rid of BootCamp?
I removed it but I can't get back the disk space.
The options in the Boot Camp Assistant are grayed out. It has an option to return it to a single partition OS X volume, but it will not let me select it.
The Disk Utility recognizes that the OS X volume is only half the drive but it will not allow me to change the size of the OS X partition.
I sure would like to recover that 200gb.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$it, in one move, will completely remove windows, and the partition it's on. You can NEVER get it back once you've done this be certain you have all the files, from the windows side that you want and as a precaution back up all personal files / important files, on the mac.
Open the "Utilities" folder which resides in your "Applications" folder on your hard drive. Within it, you should see a program called "Boot Camp Assistant"
When you run Boot Camp Assistant and press "Continue", it will give you an option to "Create or remove a Windows partition". When you select that it will come up with a window titled "Restore Disk to a Single Volume"- click "Restore" on that window and the Windows related partition and data will be removed, leaving you with a single Mac partition on your disk.
good luck!

M$Nope. It has an "Option" to do that. That is how I got rid of Boot Camp the first time I ran it. It did not restore the volume to a single partition. Now the Boot Camp Assistant and/or the Disk Utility think the entire volume is the size of the old OS-X partition. Neitther of them can "See" the old Boot Camp Partition.

M$Can't do. The erase utility only sees the current Apple partition. The option to partition it back to a single partition is grayed out.
I agree something SHOULD be able to reformat.
The Question is WHAT?
I can't find anything.
Try a third party utility? Linux? Something should be able to reformat.

Nope. But thanks. That is the only thing mentioned that I had not already tried.
The Disk Utility recognizes that the OS X volume is only half the drive but it will not allow me to change the size of the OS X partition. It simply does not "see" the old boot camp partition.
