Ok, here goes a touchy hoops question: How good do you think Larry Bird would be in today's game? What player would you compare him to?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think he would still dominate. He was as hard of a working player as there was back when he played. Today's players are stronger and perhaps more athletic due to increases in working out, but I think the players in Larry's era were more fundamentally sound. They played more of a team game back then, instead of everyone trying to play one on one. Larry was very clutch as well and at times couldn't be stopped by even the best defenders (ie, Michael Cooper of the Lakers) I think there were more good defensive players back then as well

Great shoorer with unlimited range, great passer, made clutch shots, good rebounder, OK defender. He would be one of the best players in the league today, and I hated the Celtics. I can't really think of a similar player today, maybe someone like DirkNowitzki for a big man with shooting range. Bird wasn't as big, but was tougher and a better big game player.
