Why is it that Mickey Mouse's dog can not talk, but all of his other animal friends can?

Also, why is it that a Mouse has a dog?

Not being able to talk is an important part of being a successful pet dog. Snoopy cannot talk despite his intelligence and imagination. Apparently typing is ok as long as a dog does not do it for direct communication. Grommet can't talk either, despite his love of reading technical books like "Electronics for Dogs". On the other hand, if a pet dog does talk, he soon loses his doggishness. Dogbert hasn't been taken for a walk in years. Now he's more likely to be a CEO, consulant, or someone anwering questions on Mahalo.

The dog can't talk because it's a pet dog. Were it one of his friends, it would be a little goofy, but it could talk.

And if the dog had the mouse, the dog would eat it.
