This Super Bowl was special to me because the winner was my team, the New England Patriots. A team introduced that year at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana as a _team_ not individually as is commonplace. That is what the Patriots were to us the fans that year.. a team.. the team.
We seemed to overcome all odds in defeating the favored Saint Louis Rams, "The Greatest Show on Turf" just did not have enough in them that day to overcome the magic that was our team and our season that year. Our air was electrified that day.. you could taste it. Everyone outside of New England was doubting the Pats could do it.. we had been there before in Super Bowl XX and Super Bowl XXXI against the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers and it was us that was out skilled, out gamed and defeated. Boston teams in general seemed to have a knack for losing when it really counted.
But not that day..February 3rd, 2002 we did it. "The Patriots are Super Bowl champions!!"

I lived in Upstate New York at the time, and these Super Bowls were the Buffalo Bills' four consecutive losses. It was heartbreaking at first, but by the fourth one, anyone who'd put up decorations had silently taken them down the night before and the results were never spoken of.

I also really enjoyed Superbowl X because I attended the game at the Orange Bowl with my mother.
