The other answers are correct but each person may experience them to varying degrees. Other issues may arise from the change in medications. If you are taking blood pressure or diabetic meds you will find that there is a transition off them.

You will find that your tolerance of fats and sugars is much less. After surgery there is what is called "dumping" which can be caused by several things. Dumping is when you get ill and throw up after eating too much or too quickly, not chewing sufficiently or from eating too much fat or sugars.

Another potential complication is leakage. Your doctor should do a test for leakage at the pouch before you are released from the hospital. This is usually rare but can occur.

Your tolerance of cold can be a factor. You will feel colder than before. Maybe it is because you have lost a layer of insulation.

Gastric bypass surgery is a major lifestyle change. You need to be well prepared and educated about what is about to occur before you proceed and it will be a much easier transition for you.

Don't forget to weigh the risks against the benefits. They include lower blood pressure and cholesterol, no more snoring, diabetes can be all but cured.

Most surgeons will have orientation meetings so you can visit and ask questions without any obligation.

Both my wife and I have had gastric bypass surgery. My doctor says I am no longer diabetic, no more high cholesterol, triglycerides or high blood pressure. I went from 8 meds a day down to 3. Lost 90 lbs. My surgery was 8 months ago. And I don't snore anymore, my wife loves that!
