If Al Davis keeps going the way he's going in terms of choosing inexperienced, malleable coaches that won't argue with hi, then Martindale is as good a choice as any...the raiders D has been pretty good as of late...trick would be to find a great offensive coord. And Martindale started his career at little Defiance College, so says the Mahalo.com page on the guy...I'm from NW Ohio, so I like that about him, too. ;)
Now, if I were a Raiders fan, I would be screaming for Gruden to come back. But I highly doubt it's gonna happen...Al did fire and re-hire Art Shell, but this time he'd be welcoming back a defector.
I really think the only answer, ultimately, is for John Madden to come back. Davis won't hire any other big names but him, and the Raiders need a coaching star to resurrect them.
Wouldn't that be great?...

Don Martindale for Oakland Raiders head coach?
Rumors swirling that he is meeting with Raiders owner Al Davis to discuss a promotion, which could either be to defensive coordinator or head coach. Is Al Davis out of his mind to consider Martindale for head coach, rather than going after someone with slightly more experience

Al Davis loves newbies that he can boss around, intimidate and make them do what he wants. That is why the Raiders have struggled for so long. Davis is not content with hiring a coach and letting him work, he feels the need to get involved in every aspect of the organization - which is neither healthy, or productive. I just hope that Don Martindale knows what he's getting into before he takes the position.
