non-tangible gift ideas for non-typical man? Up to $100.

Hi, any non-tangible gift ideas please?

For man, non-typical (not into sports etc.), more of an intellectual.
That can be bought from outside the US.

Not charity contributions.

Please offer your creative suggestions.

Up to $100.
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Magazine subscriptions to something like National Geographic.

Or check the Geographic's catalog. There are many, many interesting ideas for non-typical people in general.

Another idea would be to pay his registration for a convention on some topic he likes. What's he into? Many non-typical people like science fiction, and there are conventions all over the world. There are conventions on just about every topic imaginable.

If he's into history, you could get him something of historical significance if you know what area and era he likes. For example, if he likes French history, you could maybe get him a bottle of wine from an ancient monastery.

Thanks for all replies & suggestions.
(Sorry for the delay, I don't seem to be getting any Maalo notifications)

Living outside the US (I should have mentioned) limits the options somewhat...

I've been thinking of giving people Pandora stations. You enter up to five songs the person likes and they personalize the music played on it from there. Kind of like a mix tape that evolves to fit the person's taste. It's free, so you could always send it in addition to whatever you wind getting him.

$100 Mahalo dollars :)

Or:

Software (like registered shareware)
an online membership (like Flickr)
an online DVD rental subscription (in Australia we have Quikflix, which is like Netflix, you probably have one in your country)
Pre-paid phone credit
A petrol gift certificate card

Check out Signature Days they provide experience type gifts. I read about them here: http://www.freshtrend.com/2006/12/signature-days-experience-gifts.html

Seems pretty cool and unique.
