Why would Senator Specter want to retire? He represents the state of Pennsylvania, which is home to the nation's oldest brewery, Yuengling. Perhaps Senator Specter wants Pennsylvania to boast the nation's oldest Senator as well!

Why doesn't Arlen Specter just retire at the end of his term? All this fuss over a party switch... He's 79 years old.

He's addicted to the Senate, and will do whatever he needs to get his fix. Just one more example of the need for term limits for Congressmen, which will never be enacted.
