Why does everyone hate Fox News? It isn't the only biased news station!

Most news stations are left-leaning. What's the issue people?

It is true that other news stations are just as bias but the issue stems from the slogan that Fox uses "Fair and Balanced"...

it should be but is not, and Fox is the worst offender.

This is why I hate Fox, it is because they run around saying they are fair and balanced, while I do think the rest of the media is somewhat liberal on social issues these other news outlets are corporate owned and generally pro business in that support free trade which I think does not really exist, they allowed John Kerry to be referred to as a flip flop because he voted for a competing bill in the senate, and yet Bush said he did not want to tell the world what to do, Al Gore said he took the initiative in helping create the internet based on a dept of defense program and G W. Bush morphed it into saying he “invented” the internet, something he never said, and the media went along with this. During the recent sex scandal involving people like Mark Sanford and John Ensign Fox had to mention John Edwards and Elliot Spitzer and the other channels like CNN went along with this, what is wrong with the scenario is the republicans have called themselves the party of family values and keep on talking about the sanctity of marriage and yet don’t seem to really believe it themselves, there is no liberal alternative to Fox, MSNBC employees some people like Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow but they also have 3 hours of Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan is also on the payroll, and they have employed Michael Savage and Ann Coulter until they totally insulted someone like telling them they should die. More of why I hate Fox because people like Hannity says things like Hillary Clinton never came clean about Vince Foster’s death. It is run by Roger Ailes who got a kick out of directing Rush Limbaugh holding a pic of Chelsea Clinton and calling her the Whitehouse dog. The whole Obama Birth certificate issue, and the media is talking about Lou Dobbs and yet Rush Limbaugh has been doing this for months and we are hearing about Lou Dobbs with his much smaller audience. I could go on and on.

this assumes that they are liberal. Joe Scarborough was an elected republican congress person. is that what you mean by liberal? I was watching cnn and the news reader referred to an alleged criminal ( meaning the case had yet to be resolved) as a scum, is that what you mean by liberal? there is no other network that does what Fox does, but for the other party, Nancy Grace is a republican, and most of the Fox people do not know what a socialist is, when we invaded Iraq the other networks were on board until what the previous administration was selling was not true, what negative things, Olberman tells you his show is commentary and whose side he is on Oreilly does not.

if you could prove to me that the other networks do exactly what Fox does but from a liberal perspective I will believe, but just because they dont call Obama a Socialist does not make them liberal, really it makes Fox irresponsible.

again I must reply with an example of a new outlet that supposedly tilts far left
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2009/07/news-corps-murdoch-and-ges-immelts-attempt-at-news-channel-peace.html
here they call Olberman the agressor and what he usually does is respond to something Fox says about him or someone else at the network, read the comments, yes when someone says something about you that you know is not true you should be able to respond that does not make you liberal or a leftwinger, when sean hannity accuses Hillary Clinton of being involved in Vince Fosters death it invites a responce and should have gotten him pulled from the air, read the other comments because that is what this network does, free speach does not give you right to slander people, and there is a lot more slander on the right then the left, the only thing a few did on the left that comes close is calling former president Bush a racist when he was far from it.

Hi @matthewh,

I am not a Republican or a Democrat. In fact I could really do without the whole party system. There is plenty to criticize about the Democratic party and the Democrats in office.

And there should be more LEGITIMATE criticism of all politicians by the media.

I emphasize "legitimate" because that seems to be the root of the problem.
Fox News goes on endlessly about drivel like "Is Obama is a Non-American Citizen/Muslim/Racist/Socialist?". Other networks as well, but not to the same level.

This type of reporting only divides the nation and takes away from all the legitimate questions we should be asking (about the bailouts, economy etc.)

As you say, other media sometimes have a bias and don't report the facts.
But Fox News is by far the worst at this, in my opinion.

I really think all news media should take a lesson from Jon Stewart
on how a real interview or news topic should be handled (ironic as his show is supposed to be comedy and not real news)

A good example was his interview with Mike Huckabee on the topic of abortion. (I would highly recommend the full version of the interview if you have the time)

This interview is two people with completely different ideas on the most difficult topic out there discussing it in a frank and civil manor. Most importantly with a host showing respect for his guest (not once calling him a "pin head")

That is what I would like to see more of and that is what I do not see coming from Fox News in particular.
