*chuckle. Prop 8 was passed in 2008. I know this because I have a friend who was directly affected by it. He doesn't let me forget it. Here is the details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_8_(2008) Prop 8 says that "Only marriage between a man and woman is recognized in the state of California." Celebrities like Kim Kardashian 
http://www.bouska.net/noh8/gallery/2099.jpg are part of a photo campaign to recognize the hatred in prop 8. At the same time, there are many in the religious community who fear that a looser definition of marriage might put their rights to religious specification in jeopardy.
