President Mahmed Ahmadinejad was re-elcted.The main opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi claims that there were voting irregularities and that the election was rigged. He wants another election. The election counsel reviewed the votes and said that there were small irregularities but not enough to change an election. The Iranian president Mahmed Ahmadinejad is blaming there troubles on Britain and the BBC to shift media attention away from the constant riots that were taking place as a result of the presidential election. The supreme leader of Iran,Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has come out in support of Ahmedinejad's wild accusations along with various other clerics.Four soccer players from the Iranian national team have been banned from playing for their country for wearing green bands, the colour of Mousavi's party, the Independent Reformist party. There heve been constant riots and one female protester was shot dead by Iranian police.

I would like more news as well. From the last that I gathered from the BBC, why doesn't the US report news anymore?, the protests are still ongoing but the oppressiveness of the police has really shut down much of it.

People are still angry and still want change. The government's response seems to have only fueled the opposition.

There is/was also a lockdown on international journalists in Iran during the time of all the protests, which may be the cause of little news trickling out.

-----quote-----
EDITOR'S NOTE: Iranian authorities have barred journalists for international news organizations from reporting on the streets and ordered them to stay in their offices. This report is based on the accounts of witnesses reached in Iran and official statements carried on Iranian media.
