Ms Palin herself says the program does not work. I think she should know, lol. There is no way a program that tells teens no to do something is going to work. The whole essence of being a teen is to experiment and try things that are "adult". It's a preparation for adulthood. Mistakes will happen, the price will be paid, that's life.
I think a better approach would be to honestly show what happens if and when you get pregnant, and present it as a choice. Most kids would NOT choose motherhood, some will.
I think an even more effective deterrent would be to hold the men accountable, to have some way of putting those boys to work to pay for the cost of what they have done. In the old days a girl would be sent away to a home while she had the child, maybe we could send them both off to a work camp.. nah, that's not gonna work either... lol..
With all the sexuality in our culture, there's no way you can stop this from happening, it is the natural course of events, however tragic.
It might be cheaper to pay the kids NOT to get pregnant than to pay for the child's welfare after it is born.

If abstinence only sex education works, why did the governor of Alaska's daughter not go along with the program?
