Did Chuck Mangione die on that plane crash in Buffalo?

Mangione is alive, but two of his band members, Gerry Niewood and Coleman Mellett, were in the plane crash. They have died.

No..it doesn't look like he was on the plane, but two of his band members were.

"Also, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra postponed a planned concert Friday evening by Rochester native Chuck Mangione after two members of his band were believed to have been aboard the plane. Their identities were not disclosed."
