At last count, Cheney had roughly a 20 percent approval rating among the American public. So yes, about 20 percent of people still like the man, and probably care what he has to say.

He has also been a big lifelong player in Republican politics. So when he talks, a lot of other people will say the same thing. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Karl Rove, and other conservative leaders all speak with roughly the same voice. So when Cheney is talking, odds are those other folks are saying the same thing. And they have huge followings among the conservatives in the country.

As a former vice president of the United States, I would like to think his comments and opinions would at least be worth paying attention to.

I don't think many people are very interested in his opinions these days anymore.

Having said that, I think people should pay attention to what he's saying, and how he responds to different events, such as recent release of memos documenting (quasi)legal justification, and subsequent use of torture by the CIA.

I for one would love to hear him talk about these and other related issues, in an appropriate setting, such as a courtroom, for example.
