At the moment he is yes. But time & psychiatrists will determine if he is fit to plea, then stand trial later.
This is a heinous act and crime, no doubt about it.
BUT - what of his wife? The public must hear what her story is regarding the custody dispute they were having.
A shameful amount of custody disputes, (and divorce proceedings) are vicious and exaggerated, with both sides lying, manipulating and emotionally blackmailing.
I am not saying she drove him to it, nor am I saying he did it to spite her.
I feel overwhelmingly sorry for Mrs Freeman and the 2 remaining children.
And I feel rage and disgust for Arthur.
But I also feel slightly angry at Mrs Freeman and slightly sorry for Arthur.
So lets hope the public hears both sides of the custody dispute to ascertain what made Arthur do this.
Because I feel this is why he did it.
No matter what though - Arthurs act is, of course, much, much worse than anything Mrs Freeman had done, and he must be punished appropriately.
Sorry to use a cliche - but there is never smoke without fire.

Do you believe Arthur Phillip Freeman is too psychologically incompetent to make a plea in court?
I am not sure how I feel about the "insanity" plea; or the psychologically incompetent for that matter. It is too often the easy way out. What do you guys think in this particular case, and do you know what Australia's laws are regarding the insanity or psychologically incompetent defense?

It is difficult to know what Arthur Phillip Freeman was thinking when he threw his 4-year-old daughter, Darcey, over the West Gate Bridge in Melbourne, Australia. I also don't know why he decided to not harm his sons. This is certainly not the first case of a parent killing their own child, like Ervin Antonio Lupoe this week in Los Angeles and Susan Smith several years ago. Like many people, I don't believe life is black and white but when someone is killed, I do think there should be repercussions. Whether Freeman should be committed to a mental institution or serve life in jail, I don't know but either way, I doubt he will ever be free again.
