One of the good programs that Republicans proposed was Welfare to Workfare which reduced the welfare rolls and put people to work.

Another good program, although they did not fund it properly, was No Child Left Behind.

No Child Left Behind failed miserably. It ended up taking away money from inner city schools because it made funding dependent upon test scores. BAD policy.
And then suggesting school vouchers? BAD policy.

Welfare to work? BAD policy. People getting bussed, working several minimum wage jobs is not my idea of improving quality of life. What they don't tell you about welfare to work is that they don't place the people in adequate jobs and their income goes down. And then with single mothers working three jobs who has time to raise kids? And then they complain of youth gangs and crime...

They are great programs to leave minorities in the dust. That's for sure.
