Seriously, you can do nearly anything in one of these, and your baby will be happier than if you parent from a distance. Most people "wear the baby to sleep", just doing normal activities while the baby conks out, and then just lay the baby down when they go to bed themselves.

I used one of these with my last one, and she was my most content baby by far, healthiest, and rarely cried. I wish I'd known about them especially with her big sister!

It features:
Video with night vision (most don't have night vision)
Remote control music
Plus all of the other standard baby monitor features
It doesn't have 2-way audio.

You can also control the base unit and turn on a night light, music or talk back, and even check the temperature in the room using very simple controls. The unit is light and very easy to read the screen in the dark without it being overly bright.
I would hands down purchase this unit again and recommend it to everyone who has a baby on the way.

What's the best baby monitor?
Requirements:
* It should have video capability.
* The video monitor should be portable, ideally built into a handset.
* If the video is not portable, it needs to have a portable handset that transmits sound.
* The baby end of the monitor should be easily movable.
* Bonus: The ability to transmit sound back to the baby end of the monitor.

I found this one to be the most interesting baby monitoring. Although it's still in development, it seems to be the most advanced, the Cencio Intellicot. Intellicot

This is the very best monitor I know of. It also makes a dandy stroller and crib (see pictures below)! Happiest babies use these: http://wearyourbaby.com/why/HandsFree/owentim_02.jpg

Although it has no video support we absolutely love our Philips SCD 589 DECT Digital baby monitor! It is crystal clear (aka zero static) and very sensitive (we can hear our 3 year old in another room with his door closed if he's moving about) You can also control the base unit and turn on a night light, music or talk back, and even check the temperature in the room using very simple controls. The unit is light and very easy to read the screen in the dark without it being overly bright.
I would hands down purchase this unit again and recommend it to everyone who has a baby on the way.
