My personal favorites are Pampers Swaddlers. They are very soft yet absorbent. They have a scent which is strong enough to mask messy diapers, but light enough that it won't irritate sensitive skin. I appreciate how soft and flexible these diapers are. My daughter is particularly skinny and it is difficult to find diapers that fit her comfortably. Also, they feature a yellow line down the middle of the diaper that turns blue when the diaper is wet. This was particularly helpful when my daughter was first born and it was more difficult to tell when she had wet her diaper. These diapers are a perfect choice.
I also like Pampers Baby Dry diapers. They don't have the scent that the Swaddlers do, but they are soft and flexible and I have found them to be a little more absorbent than the Swaddlers. My perfect combination is the Pampers Swaddlers during the day, and the Baby Dry for nighttime protection.
Huggies Diapers are also a great choice and they are the same price as Pampers. I have used their Natural diapers and their Little Snugglers. I enjoy their diapers about the same as the Pampers, however, Pampers won me over with their Gifts to Grow program.
On each package of diapers or wipes you will find a Gift to Grow code. If you enter this code on their website, you can redeem the points for prizes. When you buy diapers consistently (which you have to) you can easily save up for one of their great offers. I am saving up for an Applebee's Gift Card and should have enough points for one within a couple of months.
If you are interested in a little cheaper options for diapers, and would like to buy generically, stick to Target's generic brand rather than Walmart's. The Walmart brand is very stiff and not extremely absorbent. I threw away the rest of one of the packs I had bought because I was so unhappy with them! Target brand is a little better, but not as good as Pampers or Huggies, and not very effective for blow-outs!
I have heard that Luv's are just as good as Pampers, but I can't speak from experience. When I found how much I loved Pampers Swaddlers, I decided my diaper experimenting was over! I highly recommend the Swaddlers or the Baby Dry, but DEFINITELY Swaddlers for a new baby.
Good Luck and I hope you find an option that you love as much as I love Pampers Swaddlers.
