"The Bambino" is the greatest. Bonds nor Aaron could hit a baseball like Babe Ruth. With 714 home runs Ruth was unbeatable. He was a great all purpose hitter. His .342 career batting average is 10th highest in baseball history, and his .690 career slugging percentage is still the MLB all time record. With 7 World Series titles Ruth proved he could compete when it counted too.

• Thank you! I have difficulty in selecting the greatest! Certainly Ruth is near the top, if not the greatest! Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig and Thurman Munson were all outstanding.

Babe Ruth. He had years where he hit more home runs than many teams, and he would have made the Hall of Fame as a pitcher if he remained one.

Babe Ruth. He dominated in his era like noone else has before. He was crushing home runs at a time when noone else was hitting them, even hitting more than entire teams early on. Not only that he was a great pitcher and could possibly have been a Hall of Famer pitching as well.
