New Feature: Earn M$ for posting questions to Twitter with your linked Twitter account. (Beta)
1) Click the little blue 't' on a question.
2) Tweet!
2a) If you don't have a linked account, click the button to link your Twitter account
2b) Allow Twitter to connect
2c) Put in your Mahalo info and click Connect Accounts
You only have to link your accounts the first time. After that just follow steps 1 and 2.
Pretty simple.
That said however, we've already found a few bugs since launch and expect to find a few more with your help. Please use this thread to post any bugs you find and we'll get them fixed up.
One that I'm already aware of is that links will appear with and in them. Feel free to post anything else.

I am concerned that some people will abuse this and give Mahalo a bad name by "spamming" questions out to the world. I know that the Mahalo folks will make sure that is doesn't happen; however, it still concerns me.
In the time that I did my little experiment, within 30 minutes I had two people complain and @lon sent me a reply. In the two years that I have been with Mahalo and Twitter, I think @lon has @ replied to me twice (and this was the second). I think we need to re-think this idea. I love making the "extra" M$; however, I think we need to focus on content not features (mind you I love features, just this one is not ready for prime time, IMHO)
I asked this question too:
There is a new feature on Mahalo where you can make M$ by Tweeting the question to Twitter... will your friends get annoyed at you?

M$I follow a fair number of Mahaloians, and if we all do this I'll be seriously spammed, and not be able to have real conversations with any of them. Bottom line is I'll then have to unfollow or move them to a group that I don't watch very closely.
A partial solution would be to include a keyword in all the tweeted questions that I can use to filter them out if I choose.
That's only a partial solution because it only works with some clients, like TweetDeck on the desktop.

M$I agree...the sheer number of tweets from this will make our account overloaded.... May not be such a great idea after all.... I am sure everyone will want to use it.
This was brought up in a thread here

You raise a good point. We'll see what the guys upstairs come up with for this. My quick fix is just that people shouldn't got crazy with this. Go for quality. Tweet because you want to, not just because you can.
I realize this doesn't solve all issues, because you'll still get multi-tweets on good questions, but hopefully it'll solve some of it.
It's only a problem for people that follow a lot of Mahaloians.
But I'm afraid that's all of us regulars! :)
I agree with @philipy I saw this as I was just finished downloading tweetdeck and had just started using it when he mentioned that. I can see what you are saying @philipy
My twitter feed just went nuts....I am going to have to unfollow some folks. My apologies in advance.

M$So I have an issue. When I first got to Mahalo Answers I ended up creating a 2nd account which jeffhoard deleted for me. it was tchachra2. now when i try to link to twitter, it works..but when i return to mahalo i am logged in as tchachra2. Any clues?
See what I mean...was incorrectly logged in as andyh...this is my real mahalo account - @andyhardison
Ok, we'll have to keep working on this. Thanks for you patience.
Seems this has been fixed. You can now link to your Twitter account and when you return Mahalo will ask you for your Mahalo username and password. Voila. Thanks DEV's
I am having the same problem. Every time I try to link accounts, I end up logged in to mahalo as andyh...need help.
Alright, well there's a bug. I'll look into it. Sit tight, it may take until Monday because we try go avoid making big changes over the weekend. Until then you may have to wait to use the Tweeting feature. Thanks for reporting this.
Ok, we got a quick fix in for you, try again and it should work with your tchachra account. Thanks to @brianm for the fixing.
Nada...I am tchachra2.
Similar issue as Andy here.
I do agree with the comments of a few others, though. I'd space out the tweets or followers will start to get tired of the spam-like posts.
Do we earn Mahalo points for tweeting pages as well?
Thanks for the info.

M$I guess we have 10 tweets a day?
I was told after tweeting that I had nine remaining.

M$Resist temptation to spam! Nobody likes spam on twitter.
Also, the @answers twitter feature hasn't worked in a while

M$What a excellent idea!
How will this work for questions that already have a best answer chosen however ?
I hope you guys really think about the possibility of keeping this around.
Hell even if I can only do this a few times a day, this is really a great encouragement to decipher my most important questions to post to twitter !
BEAUTIFUL WAY TO END A NIGHT ! THANK YOU J!
Have a wonderful Labor Day everyone ! =P !

Right here baby!

M$The payment seems to be dependant on how many others have already tweeted that question. The first one gets $0.10, the next person gets $0.09 etc... However, there is no way to know which question has been tweeted already, so you don't know your potential earnings. I tweeted the 'most significant event' question, and was apparently third. I tweeted some very old questions, and got $0.10 for all of them.
BUG REPORT: It seems that you are not allowed to change the text. I tried tweeting this question, but wanted to delete the (beta) part. I got an error on that. It did count as one of my tweets though. That would be quite annoying, as many questions have mahalo tags, which I would like to remove before tweeting.

M$Yeah, well maybe that's the thing I did wrong, Mahalo is not my daytime job, and I thought I could allow for some less serious comments.
However, even that remark has a serious undertone, I would probably not use this feature on a twitter account that I am fully using. I don't think many followers would be very happy about me spamming them with mahalo questions. Which is basically also what @philipy said.
I don't think this feature should have any payment incentive. It is useful 'as-is', or it isn't useful at all.
But let's quit this futile discussion, it has resulted in WAY too much negative energy for me, for a feature I do not intend to use anyway.
I have set up a twitter account, but I only have like 2 followers. Should I still link it and use this feature or wait until I have more followers?
Actually, I forgot about this issue three days ago, right after my last post. The Ego is a bit dented, but otherwise I'm fine. Thanks for the up though! Ego is on the rise again :)
Hey Mith, I think Jason misunderstood and though you were using the spare account to just make 10 tweets and pick up your dollar.
I know you better then that, I know you meant it as an account to beta test the feature, as the thread was introduced as a beta testing thread.
Again I apologize for misunderstanding here, your participation is a value to Mahalo.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ _THINK_ PEOPLE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WHAT _exactly_ is the point ?
The whole purpose of this feature is to create a conclave viral affect for Mahalo and twitter, utilizing 2 powerful mediums and gaining benefit from both, as well as pulling in traffic.
IF people start abusing the features, then I can only see Mahalo taking euphoric action against that abuser and limiting further features in the future.
I implore people to THINK first before they start taking Mahalo 's new features for granted.
That being said, I think that some of these new beta features should by invite only and limited to higher belt levels.
@mithrandir
Your KungFu is distorted, I challenge you to think like me.
REGARDS
@XDS
Mith,
For someone who took sollace and added a happy face at the end of your first sentence above .
"Luckily I have a spare twitter account that no-one reads :) "
You have a pretty funny way of setting an example of a good beta tester.
I'll be watching for more of your humor in the future.
I find the suggestion that I am scamming the system here repulsive, and highly in contrast to my track record here at Mahalo so far.
You introduce a beta feature, so I am beta testing. I tell you guys EXACTLY what I am doing, my findings and how I used the feature.
You can't expect me to beta-test with a fully functional Twitter account (not that I have one, I don't twitter that much), and harass followers, which I now magically seem to have 11 of, by the way.
Seeing these accusations, I will NOT test this feature again, and will probably never do so at all.
A very disappointed Mith.
@Myth,
Perhaps i was a little to drudge with my remarks initially as well, it just angers me that sometimes the first thing that pops into peoples heads is oooooooo $.
Lets grab it all.
When I hole heartedly pray that instead of that they would think long term and humanisticly.
Note: if anyone starts tweeting to an empty/spam account we will know and not only take the money out of the account, we will consider turning that person's mahalo account off.
What your proposing above is highly unethical. we made these feature to reward folks for sharing.... not for people to game the system. Please think holistically about the community.... you're part of it!
We expect more!
@xds, I am a (beta) tester in IRL, and I NEVER beta-test on a live system. So, if I am invited to testdrive a beta function, and help straighten out the wrinkles/bugs, I don't use a fully functional system/email adress/twitter account.
Apart from the fact that I don't think paying for putting Mahalo questions should be paid, and definitely not this much, I still don't consider myself has having done anything wrong. I've test-driven the new function, I described what I did and what I found, AND I've written a bug report.
I don't expect to be slammed for doing that, I NEVER intended to abuse this function, and am appalled at the accusation.
I don't take any mahalo feature for granted, on the contrary. I experiment with it, to see if it is useful, and how it could be useful. My findings are that this feature is not useful to me, and I even expect that many won't find a good use for it.
But that's just my idea...
The idea here is to only tweet when it's something amazing..... you don't want to tweet too much of any one thing (i.e. don't tweet 10 nytimes or CNN links in a row either!).
