Need to share a presentation with some users. But dont want them to be able to download the file. any ideas?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You could create the presentation in Adobe flash..then they will at least have to work fairly hard to get it downloaded. While flash is fairly expensive, and buying the software yourself might be wasteful for just one presentation, you might be able to work around this if your willing to use resources available. For instance, you could upload it to youtube and set it as private. Youtube will automatically encode it as a flash file...then you can share or embed it as needed. Once you have finished, just delete it. While it is possible to save flash movies from youtube...you have to install firefox plugins to do it for the most part...and most laymen won't have researched how. Or, just convert the thing to a flash movie yourself, and post on your own website for them:

Here is an article on how to do it yourself:

I've heard that flashpoint is fairly decent at converting ppt to flash:

Unfortunately, this is the best I can think of off the top of my head. There are plenty of ways to lock the presentation from editing, etc...but to keep them from saving it...that's a different story all-together.

You could play the presentation on your comp, and have virtual webcam software (such as WebCamMax) running, and then stream the video via ustream.

The only possible way the watcher could save it would be a screen recorder, but that is true with every possible solution anyone could give.

If it's a PowerPoint presentation, try uploading it to Google Docs.

If I needed to do this, I would try Go To Meeting. You can invite a number of people to meet with you via the internet and view what you would like them to on your desktop. They have a free trial. While I personally have not tried it, I think that it may answer your needs. I listen to a lot of podcasts and have heard a lot of good things about the company from Leo Laporte of This Week in Tech (twit.tv). If you are interested, I have included a link below so you can check it out.
