Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

This refreshing version of mint mojitos features a springtime kick of cucumber. I love these at special gatherings and summer barbeques. A pitcher of this can be made a few hours in advance - just add alcohol at serving time.

Mint-Cucumber Mojitos

INGREDIENTS

* 1 lime, quartered
* 2 sprigs fresh mint leaves
* 1 tablespoon white sugar
* 2 slices cucumber
* 6 cubes ice, or as needed
* 2 ounces white rum (such as BacardiĀ®)
* 4 fluid ounces club soda

DIRECTIONS

1. Squeeze the lime quarters into a highball glass, and drop the limes into the glass. Add the mint leaves and sugar. Muddle well with the back of a spoon or with a muddler. Place the cucumber slices into the glass, and fill with ice cubes. Pour in the rum, then top off with club soda. Stir gently and serve.

Correct muddling technique is crucial for this drink. Pounding the mint with the muddler and turning it into a green paste is not necessary. Gently muddle for 10-20 seconds. The resulting cocktail should be a perfect balance of rum, mint and lime flavours. Too much muddling will lead to the mint overpowering the other flavours.

With the traditional Mojito conquered, there are plenty of variations to try:
