NDM1 (aka the new "superbug"), is it going to kill us all?

The bugs are fighting back and they will at least, as they have always done, pick off the weak in our population such as those undergoing treatment in hospital but could it be worse? NDM1 deaths are rising and it will be the death of us all sooner or later, or will it? How can this be prevented?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I believe by reporting the NDM-1 Superbug on TV and the internet and letting the public be aware is actually helping contain the disease and saving lives.

My thoughts are that by making us scared, we are taking drastic action to protect ourselves, which in turn stops the spread.

We hear the news on the Superbug on TV, get scared and take drastic actions like washing our hands more, staying away from sick people, if we are sick we stay secluded and away from family and the public.

By many of us doing this we are helping contain the disease.

Do I think it will kill all of us, no. Am I a bit concern that it could wipe out a whole lot of people, absolutely!

Antibiotics will not help us with the NDM-1, so we must build our immune systems, today and always!

I don't think the NDM-1, at this point, is cause for panic. It's not like the Bubonic Plague that hit China and killed over 25 million people from 1347 to 1352. Should we be concerned? Of course, everyone should be concerned and take all the appropriate measures to make sure we put ourselves at as little risk as possible of getting this. If one does contract this, they should be sure to be extremely careful not to pass this. Should be panic? Not at all, there isn't enough eveidence that this is called for and just really doesn't help any at all.

Everyone was in a panic with the swine flu too and really more people get infected and die from the regular flu that is out every year. In fact, all flu bugs are either avian or swine.
