Did Shaquille O'Neal ever retire?

How old is that guy now? how many seasons has he played did he ever fake retire?

Shaq now plays for the Phoenix Suns. He is 37 years old and has played in the NBA since 1992. He has played for 4 teams, Orlando Magic, LA Lakers, Miami Heat and the Suns.

He hasn't "fake" retired though he has spent some time injured.
