Will the NBA Slam Dunk Contest ratings be affected by Valentines Day?

I can see lots of men not spending the evening sitting in front of the TV watching basketball dunks but taking their ladies out.

Absolutely, because most (by most I mean almost all) men with a girlfriend or wife will be out to dinner, vacation, movie, or hotel.

Even if they're staying home, they will probably be eating a nice home made dinner or watching a chick flick. Anything but the dunk contest...

However, I'm sure the ratings will do fine because there's tons of kids watching it, as well as young men and single men :)

I don't believe this will affect the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. There are plenty of single men, as well as men who will watch this with their spouses. Also, children and families watch this together. There will be plenty of bars showing it as well, so people who are out might watch it as well. There are also many who may not go out for Valentine's Day. For those who go out, I'm sure there will be those who use their DVR to watch it later, if they will be out in the evening. Either way, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest will get great ratings as it usually does.

With today's economy it might do better this Valentine's Day. More and more people are staying home !
