But since this was about Navy SEAL life and not training, I will direct you to a book called "Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10" by Marcus Luttrell with Patrick Robinson.
Luttrell was the only survivor of Operation Redwing, the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history. It was on the best-selling list and is a very recent book that details Navy SEAL life.

Also, Dick Couch has several books about Navy SEAL life. I'm not sure how accurate they are, but you/your friend, might want to check them out.
