The US Naval Academy lists the steps for admission at http://www.usna.edu/admissions/steps.htm as being:
1. Have a US Social Security number
2. Be eligible (United States citizen, have good moral character, be at least 17 and not past 23rd birthday on 1 July of the year entering the academy, be unmarried, not be pregnant, and have no dependents).
3. Submit a preliminary application
4. Apply for a nomination, normally to your U.S. Representative, two U.S. Senators and the Vice President of the United States
5. Take the SAT-I or ACT test
6. Complete the official candidate online forms and submit them such that they are received by the Academy as soon as possible and no later than 30 days after receiving a candidate information letter
7. Undergo an official medical exam
8. Pass a physical fitness assessment
9. Pass an interview
10. Receive a Letter of Assurance or Offer of Appointment.
