My friend puked in my back seat of my car, how do I get that out of carpeted pads and floors?

I need some help with this. I don't want to wait long to clean this. My car is like my sanctuary, it's my one place I am in control. This event was really upsetting. I really hope the smell will go away.

P.S. My friend feels better now. I think he just ate some bad food.

Things you'll need:
Rubber gloves
Paper towels
Trash bag
2 clean cloths
1/4 cup ammonia
1 cup hot water
Bucket of hot water

Step 1
Using a rubber glove and paper towels pick up all the vomit pieces and place them in a trash bag. Try not to vomit again; it defeats the purpose. Leave all the car doors open to air out the car.

Step 2
Combine hot water and ammonia in a bucket. Mix 1/4 cup of ammonia with 1 cup of hot water. Dip one of the cloths into the ammonia mix and wring out some of the excess water.

Step 3
Scrub the vomit area with all the elbow grease you can put into it. Rinse the cloth and repeat as necessary to get the vomit out of the car's carpet.

Step 4
Take the other cloth, dip it into a bucket of hot water and go over the vomit area until you have rinsed it out as best you can.

Step 5
Dry the area with a towel and let it carpet air dry for as long as you can.

Step 6
Let a little of the ammonia solution soak into the carpet for about 10 to 15 minutes if the vomit stain and odor doesn't come out on the first try. Scrub it and rinse it, then let it air dry.

I had that happen to me years ago - a friend puked all over the floor behind the driver's seat. Fortunately it all stayed on the carpet mat. I hosed it down (outside the car obviously) and sprayed it with fabric freshener. That helped a little bit, but the smell still lingered a bit. The only thing that made it eventually go away entirely was leaving it outside on my porch for a couple of weeks to completely air out. That got rid of the smell for good.

Howdy, make sure you use paper towels and clean all the vomit up. Next combine 1 cup hot water and 1/4 cup of ammonia in a bucket. Dip cloth into the ammonia mix and wring out the excess water. Scrub the area well. Rinse the cloth and repeat until you get the vomit out of the car's carpet.
Get another cloth and dip it into a bucket of hot water and go over the area until you have rinsed it the best you can.

Dry with a towel and let the carpet air dry for as long as you can.

Good luck!
