That would be Credence Clearwater Revival circa 1969. The band's vocalist, John Fogerty, liked the name of the town. Since we're about 40 miles from the town, it's a good "car song"!

You're right on both counts! That 100 miles south area, going down I-5, is known locally as "The Blight". Of course, the people we know from that area think of us as "Hillbillies", so it all works out!
Actually Lodi is not too bad a place. Would not want to get stuck a hundred miles farther south though.
I actually remember another singer also singing "Lodi" in 1969- other than Creedence Clearwater. I thought his name was Joe Green- at I think at least I have the Green right. CC's version was very good, but whoever this fellow was, he did an absolutely great job- and it was being played on most of the
stations.
