My apartment is really small wanted to know how do i furnish it?

Tip for best answer: M$0.10
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Try to get multipurpose pieces. For example, it may make sense to get a futon, that can be a bed at night and a sofa during the day. Use a trunk or other storage as a coffee table and/or end tables, so you create surfaces and storage. Look for a table that you can dine at and that can serve another purpose or that can collapse. Cabinets with doors can be used to store clothes (if you have limited closets) or books or other items and will make the space seem less cluttered.

There are a few books that are really nice about furnishing small spaces that show different storage solutions that are multifunctional. Some of those include:

1) Libby Langdon's Small Space Solutions: Secrets for Making Any Room Look Elegant and Feel Spacious on Any Budget
2) Big Ideas for Small Spaces by David Lansing and JoAnne Liebeler
3) Small Spaces: Maximizing Limited Spaces for Living by Elizabeth Wilhide
4) Christopher Lowell's You Can Do it! Small Spaces: Decorating to Make Every Inch Count

Lastly, really evaluate whether you NEED specific items. When you live in a small space, you need to own less things - less clothing, fewer pairs of shoes, fewer pots, fewer books. Thus, you want even those items to be multipurpose. I try to do that anyway - live with less - but I'm not amazing at it. It becomes really important in a small space.
