My 12 year old is fascinated extremely by Egypt. We want to go in a year.

We are obviously saving up. I was wondering if anyone had personal experience with trips or tours that is not off the chart financially.

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR LINKS! Personal experience is best :)

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Egypt is on the top of my places- I- must-visit list. I am absolutely fascinated by what I have read about Egypt and its mysteries.

Since I haven't yet been to Egypt, I would like to mention the experience of someone else who had some interesting time in there, Napolean Bonaparte.

It is believed that Napolean while on his visit to the great pyramid asked to be left alone in the King's chamber and came out looking rather disturbed and said that he didn't want the incident mentioned again. Years later, when he was on his deathbed, a close friend asked him what really happened in the King's chamber. He was about to tell him and stopped. Then he shook his head and said, "No, what's the use. You'd never believe me." ,he never told anyone and took the secret to his grave. (It is interesting to note that there is an unsubstantiated story that Napoleon had hinted that he was given some vision of his destiny during his stay in the King's Chamber). I don't know how far this is true but you can read more about it in the article below,

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread25160/pg1

The site below provides is all about Egypt and provides you with extensive information about what to visit, what places to avoid, travel tips, culture, weather etc,

And the following site lists out the cost of tour and what is included in it, so I am hoping it will help you in comparing with other packages,

Hi,
The country has many places to be visited. I recommend you to be very confident before traveling there. I was in Port Said and saw:
-many cats
-many people making commerce,bazaar style
-people selling a lot of things on the streets
-amazingly people speaking fluently and friendly many languages
-interested culture related to Pyramids
-different understanding, when comes to living the life
-a variety of flavors-from food etc.
-very cheery people
So, I do advise you to make a bit of research before buying the tickets and planning your journey.
It's advisable to be careful with the hit and trips out the city.
What to visit exactly:
-Cairo
-Egyptian Museum
-Biblical Mount Sinai
-Citadel-Cairo
-pyramids- trip out with camels
Enjoy the tours!
Cheers
hope you have an answer
thx

I never go to Egypt, but I recognize some persons in Epypt by chatting on line, one of them is a guide,so know about Egpyt much, I may provide some suggestion to you, epypt is not very rich country and price of product and service is cheap,so you don't worry about the expense on traveling in the epypt,if you really wish to know about more about epypt ,you may visit the Britain Musem, because most of epypt relics is in it.what you can see is just pyramid and mummies.Of course, the beach is also good place, have a good time to you in Epypt.

I loved it. I am not sure what your budget is but it was not inexpensive. The tour I took was an African-American Historical tour and was very informative. It included a cruise down the Nile. The tour was with Dr. Runoko Rashidi who travels there at least once a year. I believe he has a trip coming up in the summer 2010.

November to April is considered winter May to October summer. I went in April and it was still warm during the day but was cooler at night. I also got caught in a sand storm. This website may help: http://www.touregypt.net/climate.htm
