It depends on what you like when it comes to music. If you prefer meaningful lyrics and interesting rhyme schemes, then older rap is for you. If you prefer to dance and love bass-heavy, catchy beats, then modern rap is what you may like better.

Or, some people like me...can enjoy both!

According to msnbc.com, the 80s were the "golden age of hip hop". I wholeheartedly agree. Back then, hip hop was raw and real and still underground, for the most part. By the time the 2000s came along, it was way too commercial and unoriginal. The MCs were better in the 80s too. There's no way Will Smith could battle Big Daddy Kane.
