What is your favorite Hanukkah music CD? And why?
Happy Hanukkah!

Please answer only with CD's you have listened to yourself. I don't need help reading online reviews from elsewhere.

I bought Songs in the Key of Hanukkah ( http://newlinerecords.com/hanukkah/ ) this morning, after seeing a recommendation by an old friend of mine in London. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but what I have heard sounds like a really nice mixture of modern and traditional styles. It's apparently available on iTunes, but I got it from the Amazon MP3 store - mmm, tasty DRM-free MP3s!

• This was the only answer that actually answered the question, although it seems odd that vmlinuz's favorite Hanukkah cd is one he hasn't listened to all the way through. I didn't like the samples from the tunes on Amazon myself; but, of course that wasn't part of the question.

Yes, that is what I was asking. I was even able to hear samples on Amazon. But, I hope someone suggests something a bit more traditional. Well, I really mean a whole heck of a lot more traditional. A rap Hanukah?! I notice though that Mahalo doesn't even list Folk, International, or Ethnic as choices for music categories.

I'm not sure there is a truly good Hanukkah cd. Maybe you'd like the 2009 Nice Jewish Guy calendar?
