If you are willing to move up to a big time amp, check out the Mesa Boogie line of amplifiers. They are so versitile and kick as hard as any little amplifier can. The price is significantly more, but every guitar player I have played with that has had a Mesa has been known for having the very best sounds. Mesa doesn't sell online. You have to go to a dealer to check them out. From what I understand they do make those dealers stick to a pricing standard to keep them from jacking up the price. If you haven't tried one, you owe it to yourself to take a look at one of the best amps made.

I have played Mesa Boogie before, and I completely agree with you! unfortunately they are a tad bit out of my price range.

Here's a 100w Mesa Bogie Nomad on Ebay for $775 (Buy it now). Ends (Dec-29-08 16:42:03 PST). Shipping is $85. That's not much more than the Fender...

If you are shooting for a price around $300, you might want to consider Peavey. It isn't a glamerous name, but they are workhorses and they really can sound sweet. Anyway, Peavey has a new series of Guitar amps called the Vypyr that looks sweet. They list at $399 for the 75w model and you can find them for around $300 on ebay and I'm sure for less elsewhere. They feature modeling of 12 top amps both clean and overdriven and have a host of effects. This might be a great option to check out.

I agree that the Mesa Boogies are great amps:

Although I use a Fender HotRod DeVille 410 in my Santana Tribute band, and get a very similar sound:

For a similar sound, though, at a lower price than the HotRods, you might try a Princeton Chorus. I don't think they make them any more, but there may be some available online.

Why don't you browse at ebay? Here's the link:

If you're looking to stay with the Fender sound and want a solid upgrade that will never let you down in a compact model but with plenty of sound for a small gig up to huge gigs go with the Fender Twin Reverb -- they're only $1k new and they are a gold standard. . . you can poke around and probably find used and good condition for less than that too
