What are some good, preferably English, websites for discovering new and popular Japanese music?

Are there any websites out there that function like amiestreet, zunepass, or emusic but specialize (or at least have a respectable amount of) hip, new j-rock and j-pop?

I would go to MySpace.com, click on the music section, and select the Japanese genre. They are listed by most popular as default and you can listen to their songs and download them on another site.
Asker's Rating:
• Myspace has some decent stuff but I found that the best place to go is last.fm. I think their interface and website is a lot more user friendly and there content is just as big if not bigger than myspace's.

The most popular rock band in Japan is Maximum the Hormone. If you know Death Note anime (a very popular anime series in Japan), they are the ones who sang its theme song. Anyway, you can browse the latest and the future music releases in Japan at http://www.yesasia.com/global/en/japanese-music.html you can also read reviews in that link and browse the most popular music http://www.yesasia.com/global/japanese-music/0-0-0-bpt.40_ni.101-en/list.html

By the way, I want to share this song from SMAP entitled Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana ( One and only flower in the world ). This song became popular in Japan for many years that until now, it is still sang by teenagers and oldies alike. Lyrics and translation after the video:

English translation:
Lined in the flower shop display
I saw all sorts of flower
Each and everyone has their favorite kinds
but all of them are pretty.
Without competing to see
which was the best among them,
proudly inside the bucket, they were stretching and showing their shape

As opposed to that, we humans
why do we have to compare ourselves to one another?
Each and every one of us is different,
why do we want to be number one?

That’s right we are…A flower unlike any other in the world
Each and everyone of us carries a different seed
Just so we can make that
bloom into a flower, it’s okay if we do our best

There are people whose smiles are strained
because they are completely lost
But it doesn’t matter because
every flower that did everything they could to bloom, are beautiful

When at last someone came out of the flower shop
Carrying a colorful bouquet of flower
His face looked so happy
I never knew his name but
that day he made me smile

We too are like flowers that bloom in places where no one pays any attention.
That’s right, we are each…
A flower unlike any other in the world
and each and everyone of us carries a different seed
We should focus all our efforts on trying to make that flower bloom.

Small flowers and big flowers,
Each one is unique, there no two alike
You don’t have to be No. 1
From the start, you were the special only one

The Nipponsei web site has years publishing popular j-pop hits and anime themes. They publish the downloads using the BitTorrent Network so you need to have a bittorrent client (like uTorrent).
