The closest is Patti Labelle, in reference to her sister Jackie:
"After Jackie's death, I suddenly realized I never really told her or any of my sisters how much I loved them, appreciated them. And there were times I lost my patience when my sister Jackie would complain. I wish I had been more patient."
Are there any other hints/tips that you can share? Genre, age, mood of the song...anything?

Read my mind. Can you figure out which song I'm thinking of?
A long time ago I read something about a singer (a woman) who's sister was in the hospital, the sister asked the singer to do something for her and the singer refused and the sister died that night so the singer wrote a song about it, somewhere along the lines of she would have done anything for her. I'd really like to know this song I'm thinking of, anybody remember this?

Owl City is a dude, and Fireflies is not about a dying sister.

I think kimmertje - like others - probably just read the question as it is displayed on the home page and did not check out the details below. The opening line is either purposely constructed to get a "what a smartass"/"what a dumbass" reaction (which will prompt people to want to respond) or was inadvertently inadequately constructed. (I haven't checked out the questioner's home page, but I'm guessing the former.)

Singers such as Patti LaBelle, Melissa Manchester and Amy Lee of Evanescence have had their sisters pass on and written songs, though none with the exact story that you're providing. The closest is Patti Labelle, in reference to her sister Jackie:
"After Jackie's death, I suddenly realized I never really told her or any of my sisters how much I loved them, appreciated them. And there were times I lost my patience when my sister Jackie would complain. I wish I had been more patient."
