I will nominate two fantastic songs by people who probably did have decent careers but are completely unknown to me apart from those songs.
Minnie Riperton does appear on one of the Wikipedia lists.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I696OCV_AKQ
Bobby Goldsboro doesn't make the Wikipedia lists, but I think he qualifies.

It's kind of odd to call people like that "One Hit Wonders" when they were talented and seem to have had a long career with plenty of fans, but just never made the top end of the charts apart from once or twice.
While we're at it let's also throw in a great classical One Hit Wonder.

"Turn Up the Radio" by Autograph.

And,
"Little Pig, Little Pig" by Green Jello

They were nice young kids, and wrote this themselves. :)

I'm gonna add probably one the greatest one-hit wonder:
A-Ha's Take on Me
And throw a couple others I am/was a fan of that I'm surprised no one posted yet:
Los del Río — "Macarena"
Soft Cell — "Tainted Love"
Toni Basil — "Mickey"
"turn the beat around" Vicky Sue Robinson
"buffalo stance" nenah cherry
gary numan "cars"
"get together" the Youngbloods
Lipps, Inc. Funkytown
Benny Mardones Into the Night
Gary Numan Cars
Alive and Kicking Tighter, Tighter
Shocking Blue Venus
The Five Stairsteps O-o-h Child
sniff and the tears Drivers seat.
I could a few more songs on here but these are some of my favorites that also were very popular when they came out.
I will put down one more that charted but did not make it all the way to the top
Wham Bam Shang Alang by Silver, it made the top 40 in late summer 1976 when I was much shorter than I am now. lol

Great choices Philipy. Props for finding some that were not on the lists. That Minnie has a great voice. Sadly she died at an early age to due breast cancer.
