Looking into (preferably) free or open source music sequencing software with a gentle learning curve for PC...any recommendations?
While driving home from the studio I heard a mix of a song that had just really re-awakened my desire to sequence my own music and the occasional mix.
My problem is a lack of available funds. Never fear though - we have open source software!
What PC based software tools have you used for music sequencing that have a "gentle" learning curve and are preferably FREE or open sourced?
I've asked around at work, but since all the audio mastering is done with ProTools on Macs, I'm out of luck there.
Remember, I'm asking about PC software...someone else has already asked about the Mac based solutions:

Hi, when i read your question, i immediately remembered cool edit 2000 by syntrillium, it supports quite a few plugins, and even though it's a few years old, it's still very good. It also has some very good tutorials online. I remember it becoming abandonware or freeware a few years back, but i couldn't find the links. But i have found cool edit pro 2.1 freeware, and it's even better.. Since this version, Adobe bought it over and renamed it Adobe Audition, so it has the advantage also of being the first stepping stone in that direction.
It also has been reported to be fully functional on Vista, but i'm not sure which versions, or even if it's compatible with all versions.
The link to download is below.

There is also TSE3 which is open source and can be got here - http://tse3.sourceforge.net/index.html
But i don't know anything about it, or how easy it is to learn.
