Well, seems quite a few people want it! As of February 5, the bid is up to $369,100.00!!!
If I didn't have to work and stuff, I might think it was cool. But having to answer the phone countless times for no reason would drive me nuts after a while. I can't imagine though that the number is receiving thousands of calls because of a song that came out in 1982. Hundreds? Maybe. But it's not like it's a universal area code. Do people really sit down with every area code and dial the number until they get a hit? Doubt it. Can't convince me, even with a 10 year old article about it. A recent article says the number is getting 30-40 hits per day, so between 900-1200 a month.

Here is the song for your listening pleasure. (Or torture, depending on if you like it or not!)

How much would you pay for a "famous" phone number like Tommy Tutone's 867-5309?
A New Jersey man is selling his 201-867-5309 (yes, the Tommy Tutone song) on eBay. Bids were more than $5,600 on the morning of February 2, 2009. The man says he hopes to get up to $40,000. How much would YOU fork out for this number?
